“Fear exhausts life energy. It is one of the greatest enemies of dynamic will power. Fear causes the life force that ordinarily flows steadily through the nerves to be squeezed out, and the nerves themselves to become as though paralyzed. The vitality of the whole body is lowered. Fear doesn’t help you get away from the object of fear; it only weakens your will power. Fear causes the brain to send an inhibiting message to all bodily organs. It constricts the heart, checks the digestive functions, and causes many other physical disturbances…”

Excerpted from the book The Law of Success by Paramahansa Yogananda

What are you afraid of? Ask yourself that question. The sooner you uncover your fears, the sooner you can turn around your ailments and take back control of your life.

Why are you afraid? What is the worst that can happen? Is it really likely to happen?

What you need to know about that last question is this: It’s most likely to happen if you keep worrying about it, thinking about it, and giving it credence.

Never let fear rule your life, my friend. There is no sense in undo suffering.

“Many people focus on the past or the future to avoid experiencing the present, often because the present is painful or difficult to endure… The pain is there as a teacher, because life is filled with pain. In the struggle alone, there is knowledge. Only when there is pain will you see the light. Pain is your guru.”

Excerpted from the book Light on Life by B.K.S. Iyengar

We can learn from everything, but we take to heart the lessons we learn through our struggles and suffering. Nothing teaches as effectively as experience does, especially when it’s painful.

Beware of the many means by which you resist, thereby prolonging the process, and let yourself experience the pain, my friend. It’s not until we’ve truly learned our lessons that we can finally move on.

And always know, relief is just around the corner.

“Loving people live in a loving world. Hostile people live in a hostile world. Same world.”

~ Dr. Wayne Dyer

Everything you experience is acting as a mirror and reflecting back to you your current mental and emotional state. Think of it as a “sound check” from the universe, but know that it reflects back far more than just sound.

So you don’t like what you’re experiencing? Then it’s time to change the way you’re thinking. Awareness is the first step, my friend.

You really are that powerful.

“Be empty of worrying.
Think of who created thought!

Why do you stay in prison
When the door is so wide open?”

~ Rumi

Next time you catch yourself worrying, my friend, think of who created thought. Next time you feel stressed, think of who created thought. Next time you feel sad, think of who created thought. Next time you feel angry, think of who created thought.

Think of who created thought, and feel love move through you.

Love, my friend… just think of who created thought.

“In Zen Buddhism, there’s a concept called “zen mind” or “beginner’s mind.” They say that the mind should be like an empty rice bowl. If it’s already full, then the universe can’t fill it. If it’s empty, it has room to receive. This means that when we think we have things already figured out, we’re not teachable. Genuine insight can’t dawn on a mind that’s not open to receive it. Surrender is a process of emptying the mind.”

Excerpted from the book A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson

Our lives are so busy, with so much we need to accomplish in so little time, of course we have to stay on top of our to-do list. Of course we have to keep track of what is going on all the time. Of course we need to…

Or do we? Really now, this is the mindset that cuts us off from what truly matters, from our essence and innate guidance.

Have you noticed that blessings flow in your life when you’re relaxed, when you’re happy? Tension breeds tension, my friend, ease breeds ease.

Be open to receive. Knowledge, insights, gifts, smiles… all kinds of wonderful things are waiting to be delivered.

Just remember, an empty mind is a ready mind.

“How can people live happy and healthy lives? The answer is to purify the water that makes up 70 percent of your body.

“Water in a river remains pure because it is moving. When water becomes trapped, it dies. Therefore, water must constantly be circulated. The water — or blood — in the bodies of the sick is usually stagnant. When blood stops flowing, the body starts to decay, and if the blood in your brain stops, it can be life threatening.”

Excerpted from the book The Hidden Messages in Water by Masaru Emoto

When your blood flows, your energy flows. All the little nooks and crannies in the body need blood flow to be energized. The joints, the organs, the glands, the muscles, ligaments, tendons, bones, everything in your body needs to be purified and fed. You must move, you must stretch, you must flex, you must twist, you must sweat and make your heart pump your blood throughout your body.

What’s a natural irrigation for your circulatory system? That’s right, my friend, Bikram Yoga. It’s time to purify your body and create a happy and healthy life!

“Go inside and listen to your body, because your body will never lie to you. Your mind will play tricks, but the way you feel in your heart, in your guts, is the truth.”

~ Don Miguel Ruiz

Facts get skewed, stories get manipulated and distorted, and our imagination runs wild with the slightest slight. This is how our mind becomes our worst enemy. How can we ever really know what is “truth”? One thing is for sure, we can’t rely on our minds in this regard.

The truth is the domain of the heart, and the only way you’ll get there is through feeling. There’s no room for thinking when you are feeling. Thinking and feeling are mutually exclusive actions leading to mutually exclusive territories.

Quiet your mind, my friend, go within, and see what you find. Yes, it can be scary at first, but it’s worth it. This is how you set yourself free.

8/21/2012 – Daily Dose of Inspiration

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”

~ Steve Jobs

Not everything you do will provide the “I’ve found my thing!” sensation. But everything you do will in some way pave the path towards it.

As long as you follow your heart, my friend, you really can’t go wrong. Just remember, happiness is a choice. Determine to make the best of every situation and anticipate something even better coming along.

8/20/2012 – Daily Dose of Inspiration

“The reality is we don’t have to achieve goals in order to be fulfilled. This is one of the traps many people find themselves in, constantly pursuing goals to find that elusive sense of fulfillment they believe will come after a point of achievement. And it can be exhausting. Knowing we can embrace the emotional states we value at any time, we may still choose to set and achieve goals for the joy of it. Not because we have to in order to “feel good.” We can have the “feelings” anytime.

Excerpted from the book The Power of Inner Choice by Mary E. Allen

So, my friend, are you excited by your goals? Are you inspired? What will their achievement provide? How does the thought of that make you feel?

Make sure your goals are working for you. There’s nothing worse than getting caught in a rat race while striving to achieve something that won’t be rewarding in the end. It’s important to know that an appropriate goal will fuel its own achievement with the inspiration necessary to make it through all the challenges along the way.

And whatever you do, be sure to enjoy the journey. After all, this is what life’s all about.

8/19/2012 – Daily Dose of Inspiration

Achieving your goals requires paying the price of:

“…understanding emotionally as well as intellectually that we literally become what we think about; that we must control our thoughts if we’re to control our lives. It’s understanding fully that… “as ye sow, so shall ye reap.”

Excerpted from the book The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale

The bottom line, my friend, is don’t let your mind be your worst enemy. Rein it in. Train it to do your bidding. Make it into your best friend that will support you every step of the way on your life’s journey.

It’s not impossible. Bikram Yoga is an excellent guide. As you struggle through all the challenges of class you’ll be using your body as the mechanism to train your mind and you won’t even notice it!

You’ll see.
