“I have learned over the years that when one’s mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear.”

~ Rosa Parks

When you make a decision from a space of clarity resolve sets in, doubts drop away, and the path unfolds.

So get clear, my friend, make your decision, and then act. You’ll know exactly what you need to do.

“To give pleasure to a single heart by a single act is better than a thousand heads bowing in prayer.”

~ Mahatma Gandhi

Sometimes we under estimate the impact a simple gesture can have. Sharing love and kindness is truly the best gift you can give; not just to another, my friend, but to yourself and to the world as well — all three at the same time.

The personal touch can move mountains. This is a good thing to remember!

“I feel that we too often focus on the negative aspects of life, on what is bad. If we were more willing to see the good and the beautiful things that surround us, we would be able to transform our families. From there, we would change our next-door neighbors and then others who live in our neighborhood or city. We would be able to bring peace and love to our world, which hungers so much for these things.”

~ Mother Teresa

Peace and love start at home, my friend, with you. What are you focusing on? Are you focusing on the positives or the negatives in life? Are you willing to see the good and beautiful? Do you validate the good or do you validate the bad?

We make choices every day, all day long. Are you aware of those choices you’re making by the thoughts you are thinking and where an how you are focusing your attention?

Let peace and love start with you. Focus on one person at a time, one thing at a time. What are you noticing? Is it good or is it bad?

Love accepts everything but it only validates the good. And remember, my friend, it starts at home!

“Look within. Within is the fountain of good, and it will ever bubble up, if thou wilt ever dig.”

~ Marcus Aurelius

At the heart of each of us is the spark of the divine, Spirit. Spirit is 100% pure goodness. When we are aligned with who we are as Spirit we feel good, we see good, we hear good, we allow this goodness to flow through us uninhibited.

This fountain of good is in each of us all the time. It’s what keeps our hearts beating and all the other functions in our bodies happening 24/7 without any conscious awareness on our part. But we have a tendency to restrict the flow of this life force energy with our harsh judgments, doubts, worries, concerns and fear. In fact, my friend, whenever you’re not feeling good take heed of the thoughts you’re thinking and you’ll find there will be at least one that doesn’t align with Spirit.

The Sanskrit word “namaste” means “the divine within me acknowledges and honors the divine within you.” It is the most gracious of all salutations — heart to heart communication. Let this sentiment pervade your day, my friend — every day.

“The purpose of our life is to feel happiness, joy, satisfaction, and peace. In order to achieve that, so much depends on our mental attitude rather than money, power, or external things.”

~ The Dalai Lama

Is your focus on being happy? Or are other things more important to you?

Do you ever allow yourself to sit back and relax and simply enjoy the moment for whatever it has to offer? Do you ever ask yourself, “What would make me truly happy?” Or “What would I love?” Sometimes we get so lost in achieving that something as simple as this gets overlooked.

You know, my friend, life is happening right now, this very moment. What can you do right now to feel a sense of joy and peace? Is there someone or something that you could think about that would make you smile inside and feel happy and satisfied? Why not try and see what happens?

Remember, happiness is a mental attitude.

“Deep rest cultures your talents and abilities and brings you closer to your nature. Even a slight feeling that the Divine is with you will give you deep rest. Prayer, love and meditation are all flavors of deep rest.”

~ Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Have you ever noticed that at the end of a good Bikram Yoga class you find yourself lying in savasana feeling spent…done…too tired to think? Well, my friend, that feeling right there — too tired to think — is the biggest benefit you get from your hard work. Not that the others aren’t big, don’t get me wrong here. But a quiet mind, the kind that, without your even knowing it, opens the door to the Divine is priceless.

Alignment with Spirit, the gift of a quiet mind, is the avenue through which all good things can flow.

So take your time in savasana and enjoy your deep rest. Have no doubt, my friend, the results are well worth the sweat!

“The pain you create now is always some form of nonacceptance, some form of unconscious resistance to what is. On the level of thought, the resistance is some form of judgment. On the level of emotion, it is some form of negativity. The intensity of the pain depends on the degree of resistance to the present moment, and this in turn depends on how strongly you are identified with your mind…

“Always say “yes” to the present moment. What could be more futile, more insane, than to create inner resistance to something that already is? What could be more insane than to oppose life itself, which is now and always now? Surrender to what is. Say “yes” to life–and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you.”

~ Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now

Okay, my friend, you’ve probably heard the saying, “what you resist persists”, right? Well, it’s true. And any time you’re struggling or suffering in some way, you can be sure you’re resisting something.

So the next time you find yourself suffering in some way — even just being frustrated — ask yourself, “What am I resisting?” The next step is acceptance, stop resisting it and just let go.

When you take the fight out of it, life will begin to flow again. And then, my friend, ahhh… It’s such a relief!

“The voice of our original self is often muffled, overwhelmed, even strangled, by the voices of other people’s expectations.”

~ Julie Cameron

Find yourself, my friend. Determine what feels best to you, what brings you joy. You are the only one who can do this.

No one can ever know what you hold dearest in the depths of your heart better than you can. But it requires honesty and the determination to not let anything keep you from your truth, whatever it may be, whenever you discover it.

“It is said that the present is pregnant with the future.”

~ Voltaire

But of course it is! Look back and you can see the pattern of conception-gestation–manifestation reflected in every aspect of your life. Notice how it starts in your imagination with an idea.

The whole process may take minutes or decades — sometimes detours are necessary — but your future is constantly in the making.

So, my friend, what’s next for you?

“If we can recognize that change and uncertainty are basic principles, we can greet the future and the transformation we are undergoing with the understanding that we do not know enough to be pessimistic.”

~ Hazel Henderson

All being pessimistic does is use your creative power destructively. While you can’t necessarily control the future, you can influence it and direct it. There’s no sense in fueling what you don’t want.

Be clear about the essence of what you want and anticipate the best. Have faith, my friend. Trust that the right thing ultimately happens, just maybe not in the timing or order you’d expect.
