“As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn’t leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I’d still be in prison.”
~ Nelson Mandela
This is true, my friend, for all of us all the time, regardless of the circumstances. We are imprisoned by our own thoughts and beliefs — by the story we tell ourselves about what happened.
How do you do leave bitterness and hatred behind? You recognize that what’s done is done. In some way it’s served a purpose that’s helped you and others to evolve. So, you harvest the learning and leave the rest behind.
This process is called forgiveness. By giving up the imprisoning notions and adopting empowering ones in their stead you allow yourself to rise to new heights.
Why not make it a daily practice, my friend, starting today? Who and/or what could you forgive today and thereby create more freedom for yourself?
