“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”
~ Helen Keller
Though we hate it, suffering brings clarity of purpose. And the desire for change coupled with the determination to make it real will follow on that clarity’s heels.
But it’s helpful to know that often things have to get worse before they can get better. Old wounds need to be reopened so they can heal from the inside out. Negative patterns need to be confronted and turned around.
This is what builds character, my friend. We become better people because of it.
