“Why did people live so long content with the horse and carriage and not enjoy the automobile? Because they could not imagine it. Their minds were not trained to demand such a thing.”
~ Raymond Holliwell, Working With the Law
I have to admit, my friend, that I can sometimes be slow at embracing the new technology as it comes out. At this point now, things are advancing so quickly that I often skip multiple generations of a product because I just don’t feel the need for the incremental advances they offer.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with this approach to technology, but I can see how this same approach could become a problem when we don’t look forward and imagine a better life for ourselves, when we stay content with what is for too long. Life itself is always growing and expanding so to hold it back, to thwart it, is unnatural.
How do you thwart your own growth, my friend? There must be some improvement, something greater that you’d love to be experiencing.
Well, perhaps it’s time for you to start demanding such a thing. After all, there’s no sense in holding yourself back from something you’d love.
