“The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president. You realize that you control your own destiny.”
~ Albert Ellis
You know what the problem with having a problem is? The fact that we call it a problem! That we think of it and treat it as a problem, as if it’s something wrong, is the problem!
Everyone has issues. Everyone has challenges. You know what, my friend? We’d be bored beyond belief if we didn’t!
So, let’s think about this. What if we were to change that label from “problem” to “opportunity”? How much do you want to bet that we’d approach it with a completely different attitude? We’d think, “This is my opportunity to learn something new, to overcome an obstacle and grow in the process.”
The truth is with each “problem” we solve, we develop more skills, more knowledge and wisdom. We have more compassion, patience and understanding. We gain confidence, grow in character and strength, and overall we become a better person.
Problem? No, my friend, it’s a gift.
