“In the new year, never forget to thank your past years because they enabled you to reach today. Without the stairs of the past you cannot arrive at the future!
~ Mehmet Murat ildan
This isn’t to say that you thank just the good things in your past. We all have things in our past that we wish had never happened and a lot of times we try to sweep them under the rug and wish they’d disappear. But they’ve all served a purpose. There’s a reason why all of it happened, something to be learned, wisdom gained perhaps. Who knows for sure?
But don’t write the bad stuff off, my friend. You wouldn’t be who you are today without every little thing in your past. And who you are today is, and always will be, a work in progress.
The important thing, my friend, is that you’ve got your eyes on the future — the future you’d love!
