“Whether our action is wholesome or unwholesome depends on whether that action or deed arises from a disciplined or undisciplined state of mind. It is felt that a disciplined mind leads to happiness and an undisciplined mind leads to suffering, and in fact it is said that bringing about discipline within one’s mind is the essence of the Buddha’s teaching.”
~ The Dalai Lama
If you knew that your thoughts were actually creating the quality of the experiences you’re having, would you be diligent in directing them towards what you want? Of course you would! Right?
Well, my friend, at least you’d try to. After all, your happiness would depend upon it. Your level of happiness would be how you’d know just how disciplined your mind was. You’d understand that reining in the monkey mind that likes to weave all kinds of crazy stories isn’t as easy as it seems. You’d understand that maintaining a single pointed focus on just what you want requires discipline.
So, my friend, maybe the Buddha was on to something. Hmmm…
