“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
~ Victor Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
We always have choice. Always. We may think we don’t, but we do. In every moment we choose where and how we focus our attention.
And don’t discount the power of this, my friend. Notice how you feel when you focus on how awful something is versus how you feel when you focus on something positive. There’s an enormous difference. And that difference results from what you’re focusing your attention on.
Remember this, my friend, there are always multiple perspectives from which to view every circumstance. Yes, some things are horrible. But challenge yourself to connect with your heart — the part of yourself that remains unchanged under any and all circumstances — before you cast judgment.
Figure out which perspective preserves your personal integrity and alignment with Spirit. That’s the one to adopt.
