Spirit’s telling us we’ll beneFIT by communing in our sanctuaries today, Nora Jeanne. We’re still under the influence of the new moon which was exact at 9:42 p.m. CT last night which means it’s time to go within, to your own inner sanctuary, align with your Higher Self, and determine what you want most for yourself over the upcoming six or so months. It would also be very powerful for you to anchor that intention with an action fully aligned with and validating it.
Spirit is guiding us to consciously create a sanctuary today. We think of sanctuaries as physical locations that are safe zones. Churches, temples, mosques, states that offer protection for those whose life or well-being is threatened in their country of origin, are examples of physical locations that serve as sanctuaries.
We all need a sanctuary, Nora Jeanne, a space where we can escape from the stress of our everyday life, where we feel held, safe and secure, at peace, and free to simply be who we are. I created BeneFIT to be a sanctuary for you and everyone else who walks through the door. I hope it is or has been that for you.
But what I hope even more is that in your practice of the yoga you discover a sanctuary within yourself. I hope that you come to love yourself, to know that you are held by a Love that is unconditional — free of judgment — and that in every moment It is there for you. I hope that you learn to relate to that space within yourself more and more each day. It is the most powerful sanctuary of all, one that’s with you everywhere you go.
The practice of bringing your attention in from the outer world, the circumstances, situations and conditions that surround you, to your heart, the center of your being, is the most important practice for you to establish and master. Practice aligning with the Truth of who you are, Spirit, and be grounded in the knowing that Spirit is with you 24/7. As long as you are alive and breathing, Spirit is present. Take comfort in that knowing and let it be your sanctuary, the safe zone where you get to relax, realign with Spirit, and recharge.
You can use your breath as a sanctuary tool by taking a deep breath in through your nose and releasing it slowly through your mouth with an opening about the size of a straw to slow down the exhale. Do as many of these breaths as you need to until you feel the shift of the parasympathetic nervous system (the rest and digest syndrome) taking over from the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight syndrome). Did you know that this is the main reason smokers smoke? They may not be consciously aware of it, but this is the gift they get by smoking. There’s no need to smoke when you learn to harness the power of your breath.
There are all kinds of sanctuaries available to you in any given moment. You don’t have to wait to be in the midst of a storm or in a time of need. Use your sanctuaries, whatever and wherever they are, so you can feel safe and protected all day long every day.
These are challenging times, Nora Jeanne, where stress can easily get the better of us. Fear is the predominant energy all over the planet these days and that is dangerous. Fear causes dis-ease which weakens our body’s immune system and is the precursor to disease. Fear is the enemy we should all be most afraid of.
Join us for class today and commune in your inner sanctuary. This is what you and everyone of us needs.
